Call Center Workforce Scheduling Tools: Compare Basic, Pro & Super

Plan call-center shifts, breaks and meals without a heavyweight WFM deployment

Workforce Studio is a family of downloadable, offline browser-based scheduling tools for contact-center supervisors and workforce planners. Choose the edition based on whether you already have shifts, already know interval staffing requirements, or want to estimate required staffing from contact volume and average handle time (AHT).

New to interval-based break scheduling?

Start with our free, step-by-step 15-minute coverage example. Learn how to move an agent's break after an unexpected meeting, then choose the tool that fits your workflow.

Basic: I have a roster and need to fix breaks or coverage

Choose Basic to edit shifts and weekly entries, define your own meal and break windows, move pinned activities and review coverage warnings. Basic does not generate weekly shifts automatically.

Pro: I know how many agents each interval needs

Choose Pro if you can supply dated employee availability and complete required staffing by interval. It generates candidate weekly shifts and schedules eligible breaks and meals using user-provided constraints. Generation uses a heuristic and may leave gaps for manual resolution.

Super: I have call volumes and AHT and need staffing estimates

Choose Super to estimate staffing for each interval using a simplified Erlang C model with your chosen service level, answer-time target, occupancy and shrinkage assumptions, before generating a reviewable weekly candidate schedule. This is an estimate, not a promise of future SLA or an automatic volume forecast.

Before you buy: data compatibility and limitations

  • Each edition is a downloadable HTML application that runs in a desktop browser and processes planning data locally.
  • You must enter your organization's operating hours, shift rules, available employees and break or meal windows; no universal shift pattern is assumed.
  • CSV inputs must follow the supplied structure. Raw Genesys/NICE exports and live workforce-platform integrations are not supported directly.
  • Schedules require human review. The tools are not certified as labor-law compliance software, not payroll software and not multi-skill real-time queue optimization.
  • Use synthetic example data when evaluating the product; avoid uploading sensitive employee or customer information without appropriate authorization and safeguards.

How to choose in under a minute

  1. Have shifts already? Basic is the most focused option for manually managing shifts, breaks and coverage.
  2. Have required headcount per interval? Pro adds candidate weekly shift generation.
  3. Have expected call volume and AHT instead? Super adds queue-based headcount estimates.
